Today's The Day!

The Old Library Space Empties Out

Former Copier Room, Soon to be Student Workspace
Empty Shelves!

Nice and bright!
It's beginning to look like a library!

What an odd sight...shelves with no books in our usually jam-packed library! We made the big move from our beautiful stand-alone library space into the hub of the main building. The new space promises to add energy and accessibility to the library. And while it may look like a mess, just give it a day and I am confident, things will start looking settled. Our custodial staff has done such an amazing job giving our new digs, the former Teacher's Room, a facelift. Special thanks to Mr. Pete and of course our Facilities Manager Mr. Joe Lucido who have managed to pull off way more than they initially signed up for...new carpet, wall demolition, electrical work, A/C installation, carpentry, shelving, the list goes on and on!

Yes, Memorial School's Library really is beginning a whole new chapter! Be sure to come by and check it out during the new school year! In the meantime...

Happy Reading!

Is It Really August Already??

Welcome to Ms. Silag's Blog By The Sea where you'll find information on Memorial School Library happenings as well as book recommendations, events and fun, helpful links!

The warm summer days are flying by and before we know it we'll be sharpening our pencils and heading back to class.  I hope you're enjoying summertime fun down at the beach or traveling the world - and of course, relaxing with some good books:)

I've been busy packing up the Memorial School Library and preparing to move into the main schoolhouse.  The custodial staff has  reinvented our former Teacher's Room as a fresh, new library space adjacent to the Technology Lab.  This new central location will make the school library more accessible for the entire Memorial School Community and allow greater collaboration with the Technology program.

In addition to the new library space, I'm looking forward to new school library programs and curriculum, including Book Clubs and iPads in the library!  Stay tuned to this blog for more information in the weeks to come and feel free to add your comments....
